Frequently asked questions

What is this lottery syndicate thing?

A general definition for a lottery syndicate would be "a group of people who pool money to buy more lottery tickets thus increasing the chances of winning." The National Lottery claims that 1 in 5 jackpots are won by a syndicate. Such groups are encouraged by The National Lottery because they help ensure a smaller individual spending and a more responsible and fun way to play.

Why should I join this particular group?

While there are many lottery syndicates out there - each with their own systems and strategies - I believe that my scheme is the most cost-efficient in the long run, especially for our Silver Members. Also, a close eye is kept onour numbers to make sure that our individual spending remains low throughout the year, and constant work is done toward taking more members on - as to increase our chances of winning.

Is there a syndicate agreement?

Yes, a formal document to help ensure that everything runs smoothly is being written for each member. Ask the syndicates organiser for your copy of the syndicate agreement.

How are the tickets bought and how can I be sure they have actually been purchased?

Tickets are bought online on the National Lottery website. Copies of each ticket are posted on the website as soon as they've been purchased. Each day, the cost of the tickets is posted on our Splitwise group - together with a link to the syndicates website. You can choose to receive a daily email notification for each time the tickets are posted and whenever we have a win.

What happens with the winnings?

The total winnings from any particular draw get shared equally between the participating members of the syndicate playing in that draw. Every win is posted on Splitwise within 24 hours of each draw; the balance of each participating member then get updated automatically to reflect the latest win.

- Wednesdays & Saturdays: Lotto, Thunderball, and Lotto HotPicks
Every line played is a Lucky Dip; each member contributes with around £0.30 each time (£1 when there's a special draw) and gets an equal share of the total winnings.

Ruby Syndicate

- it plays Lotto on Wednesdays and Saturdays
- each member contributes with £2 each time and gets an equal share of the total winnings
- every line played is a fixed set of numbers chosen by each of the participating members
